Authorities in Missouri have filed child abuse charges against a couple who allegedly placed their infant son in a microwave, PEOPLE confirms.
Court records accessed by PEOPLE allege Derick Boyce-Slezak and Mikala Boyce-Slezak, both 22, of Park Hills, Missouri, were arrested on Tuesday.
They are being held on $ 500,000 bond and neither has retained an attorney who could comment for them.
Neither defendant has entered a plea, according to court filings.
The court records allege the baby boy was almost 4-months-old when he was treated at a St. Louis hospital back in April for facial burns.

The couple allegedly told doctors the facial burn was actually a rash caused by a chemical cleaner, the court documents state.
