Geraldo Rivera Defended Matt Lauer On Twitter, Then Kept Digging

I think it’s pretty widely accepted that Geraldo Rivera is an asshat. I, for one, never forgave him for that whackadoodle Al Capone’s vault stunt. Thanks for literally nothing, Geraldo! Now Geraldo is making headlines again by aggressively defending his pal and recently unearthed letch Matt Lauer. Geraldo #tooktotwitterwithavengence with a series of tweets not only defending Matt, but also giving us his nuanced take on workplace romance and offering solutions to the problem of women who just don’t get it.

Here’s Geraldo on “great guy” Matt Lauer:

I guess since Matt never showed Geraldo his dick then it’s all good! Or maybe Matt DID whip his dick out at dessert when dining with the Rivera’s and that’s just what gentlemen do.  And about “criminalizing courtship” and the “flirty” work environment of a newsroom, Geraldo had more to say.

Well, he’s got a point there. I worked at a newspaper once and had a big crush on one of my colleagues. He ended up dating another woman in the office. I think he just asked her out on a date or something. I should have thought to leave a photocopy of my labia on his desk or flash him my titty instead of stammering like an idiot every time he needed a stamp. I’m such an idiot!

Thankfully, Geraldo doesn’t just have questions, he also has answers. Here’s his extremely well thought out and generous solution for you gals who can’t take a joke.

Ah, now we’re getting down to specifics. Geraldo sounds a little desperate. Like he might have something to hide. Perhaps something that happened, say, just over 5 years ago, behind closed doors that may justify a small fortune in damages? Just a thought.

Geraldo is so wrong minded about this and so blatantly gross that even his bosses at Fox News had to say, “Damn, son!”. via People:

Fox News also issued a statement about Rivera: “Geraldo’s tweets do not reflect the views of FOX News or its management. We were troubled by his comments and are addressing them with him.”

And because he’s probably in big trouble with his boss and his lawyers, Geraldo has since apologized.

Ok, Geraldo. Luckily you are not one of those deviants. Oh, wait a minute…

If 1990’s Bette Midler, at the peak of her power, was worried about “getting into trouble” for sharing this anecdote, I shutter to think what else he’s been up to all these years. Good luck, Geraldo! You’re gonna need it.
